Helplessness. The feeling when your rights and your voice are stripped from you. One might feel this way when their opinions do not matter, or when their votes do not count. In some countries, governments are corrupt. Political corruption is the abuse of power for personal gain. A government is a system, or a group that is in charge of making the decisions for a state or a country. One might think running a country would put just enough pressure on the people in charge that they might stay in line. What happens if people know some do not even have the passion of the knowledge to lead a country. They are only interested in the money.

An election is a process where multiple people take a vote and choose an individual/a group to hold public office. August 18th 1920. The 19th amendment. Women were allowed to vote. Freedom. End of a dreadful period in history. The freedom to vote is like a hand stretching out to you, giving you the opportunity to share your stance even if it’s just folding and slipping a paper into a box. However, in some countries votes don’t even matter. Some are not even sure the ones in charge count the votes. There have even been accusations of fraud and meddling with the votes. Because information like this is highly confidential, it is unlikely that the public will ever find out.

Unfortunately there really is no solution. If citizens do gather all courage, all the bravery and gather those who are passionate enough. It still will not be enough to fight this corruption. They are the government after all. They are technically able to control us as long as it is legal. However, some protests have been successful, and the more powerful our voices are the more the government will fold into our demands. This is what is hard about this system. It is hard to give power to someone that the people do not know in real life. They might seem professional and able to lead a country, but in reality, all that matters most to them, is the money.
